Accessibility Accommodations

Antiracist Classroom encourages persons with needs for accessibility accommodations to participate in Reconstructing Practice’s programs and activities. All participants are welcome.

  • Reconstructing Practice is a wheelchair accessible event.
  • Location of drop-off points for persons utilizing wheelchairs are available at the building’s front entrance and at the Hixon Courtyard along Raymond Ave.
  • Reserved handicapped parking is available in both our front and back parking lots.
  • Access to public transit is available via the Metro Gold Line at the Fillmore Station, about a 7 minute walk away.
  • While ArtCenter is not  a smoke free campus, we ask Antiracist Classroom members and Reconstructing Practice Attendees and Presenters to help us keep our event fragrance free and refrain from smoking.
  • Some artist work will include video and light performances. Please notify conference organizers when you register if you are in need of lighting accommodations.
  • The Antiracist Classroom will work to control background noise to the greatest extent possible. However, due to the building’s open architecture please notify conference organizers when you register if you are in need of sound dampeners or stimuli breaks.
  • ASL Interpreters and/or Ushers may be available upon request. Please notify conference organizers when you register if you are in need of an ASL interpreter or Usher.
  • Personal assistants and/or interpreters of participants in needs of accessibility accommodations are welcome at no additional charge. Please indicate if this is an accommodation when you register so we can make assistants or interpreters available.
  • All digital photographs in publicity will include captions describing the pictures for those who use screen readers.
  • Antiracist Classroom will request that, if possible, convening presenters include the key points of any presentation on handouts or slides, preferably with large print and sharp, contrasting colors as well as a copy of the presentation materials in advance to allow for any necessary preparation of alternative format versions.
